On July 12, 2013 the DeKalb County Young Farmers and Ranchers club held a "fundraiser" for DeKalb County High School graduates by encouraging participants to stab frogs to death - the individual with the most frogs and heaviest bag of dead frogs won! This cruel activity is commonly known in the south as "gigging".

Stabbing frogs to death with pitch forks and spears will result in the animals bleeding out or succumbing to shock or organ failure, these vulnerable animals experience a slow, agonizing death. Unlike mammals, frogs and other coldblooded animals have a slow metabolism which significantly slows down death when injured, causing the animals to suffer for longer periods of time.

Please stop them from hosting this event in the future by sharing and signing the petition!

Letter to
Mayor Jimmy Poss
Please do not allow "Giggin' for Grads" events to take place in the future as they are extremely dangerous to humans and cruel to animals.
Thank you for your consideration.
