I have had a BHR since 2009 implanted by Dr John Lannin of Palo Alto Medical Foundation. I am 5'1", 125lbs., 63 yrs old with mild hip dysplasia. My other hip will need replacement in the near future and I am most distressed to learn that the BHR would not be an available option for me. I have been very pleased with my resurfaced hip. I mountain bike, hike, ski and enjoy a very active life style with my BHR. Please do not deny this option for me in the future!!

I had hip resurfacing on my left hip 12 years ago, it was a total success. I am still walking , cycling, dancing and doing yoga. I would like to think I still had the option of resurfacing should my other hip need treatment

I had hip resurfacing on my left hip 12 years ago when I was only 52. It has been a total success, I am still dancing, cycling, walking and doing yoga. I would like to think I still had the option of resurfacing should my right hip ever need to be done

The wife had a BHR in 2004, then in her early 50s. she has been able to ski, run, walk and dance with only a slight restriction of movement and the odd click. We have friends who have been advised to reduce their activity levels to prolong the life of their THRs. It appears to have been a good choice for her

I was most sporty woman but I had my history with hip injury by accident long time ago. At 2010 I was 42 and after 2 hip arthroscopy I lost totally my ability to walk for onw year time! Thank God I found this excellent surgeon (Jari Syrjänen) who told me my possibilities and who could help me. At 2011 I got my BMHR and since I´ve been again this most active, sporty and happy woman, I got my life back! We really do need right decisions, best surgeons, best implants, best methods and solutions for all people, men and women, old but also for younger people who want and need their capacity to move, live active and live again after accident, injury etc.

The BHR in my right hip is FANTASTIC. The pain which I experienced in my right hip is now beginning in my left hip. Please let women receive a BHR device! I'm too young to stop participating in my favorite sports and activities!

This is tantamount to gender discrimination. I have seen the benefit this has had on a female friend and I am amazed that other women in similar condition will have their options limited without further studies made.

I had hip resurfacing on the left side 3 years ago and it has been fabulous. Now i am told I cannot have the right side done. I'm only 53. I don't want a THR, I want to run, do yoga and play with my kids.
