With spikes in COVID-19 cases due to the delta variant, vaccination is as important as ever. Some nearby schools have already reinstated mask mandates (e.g. Twinsburg and Hudson). On September 7th, we will be following suit and returning to mandating masks. After mask mandates comes being forced back into online schooling, sports being shut down, reimplementation of social distancing. If the trends continue this way, we may not have a homecoming, may not have a winter formal, may not have many different activities which we typically would. With mandatory vaccination, the virus would not be able to spread throughout our school and we would be able to have a normal year. The only possible way for us to have a normal school year is if we mandate the vaccine, allowing for us to safely and healthily partake in school activities, gather in large crowds, go to and play in sporting events, and be able to see our friends. The mask mandate is already returning and it will not be long before the other mandates return as well. The time to act is now, pressure the school board and do not stop until they do what is right and mandate vaccination, keeping our student body healthy and safe, and allowing for us to have a normal year.
