The overall dropout rate of high school students in San Francisco has gone down over time. The graduation rate has increased due to the increased amount of resources for students. Our goal is to continue the encouragement and help for students. Although the dropout rate has decreased, Hispanic and African Americans students have a higher drop-out rate than White students.

This is in relation to the family income. Evidence shows that there are higher high school dropout rates in low-income families than high-income families. Students will drop out of school to help their families, going to work instead of getting an education. Therefore, it is our goal to help reduce high school dropout rates in low-income families.

By teaming up with the SMART program located in San Francisco, we as a community will be able to reach out to those students who do not have the resources to continue their education. By having resources that are flexible with the students is necessary to help encourage and motivate them to complete high school and move onto higher education.
