Did you know that of all the schools in New York State, Binghamton University has the 2nd highest number of violent offenses against women reported? With greek-life parties and the bar scene, the likelihood of getting roofied is significantly increased. Our goal is to reduce the risks of getting drugged for everyone at Binghamton University. Our proposal: DRINK COVERS! We want Binghamton University to provide reusable drink covers to incoming students at orientations and to offer them for a low price in the University bookstore. We also want disposable drink covers to be readily available around campus and off-campus facilities... and free of charge! With the recent exposure of some downtown restaurants as hot-spots for sexual offenses, we see this as a step in the right direction to protecting our Binghamton peers. The availability to use of these drink covers at greek-life parties and the bars can help to prevent these events from occurring.
