Bharadwaj Gadgetbuff started this petition to Smart Consumers of India

Dear India, we are the generation of Indians who spend our entire lives on a smartphone yet we have no Indian brands we can call our own.

Till now, we have had no problems letting the Chinese dominate our smartphone market, which is one of the biggest in the world in terms of volumes. The Chinese happily flooded our market with cheap goods, pushing out the few Indian brands that tried very hard to break into it. How they managed to do that is a different story for a different day but for today, we need to take a pledge to change this equation.

Amidst rising escalations with our neighbor dragon and this global pandemic, the calls for home-grown products is growing. Our Prime Minister calls it #AtmaNirbharBharat - An eternally self-reliant Bharat.

To make it easier, we can call it #SudesiTechnology

"Sudesi" or "Swadeshi" does NOT mean we make products only for our country and no one else, it means we make the BEST products based on indigenous design and engineering for EVERYONE. Because, what's the use of deriving pride from brands that you can't sell to others?

#SudesiTechnology is definitely "Made in India", but it also embodies values like Quality Craftsmanship, Indigenous "Design&Engineering" and Reliability.

Till now, the "Swadeshi" tag has been abused by many lazy brands that have offered lower quality products and made us lose trust. For example, Micromax India which used to dominate the mobile market at one point of time, just sold re-branded Chinese smartphones. But did you also know that there was a quality Indian brand called "Smartron"?

Smartron is a perfect candidate for #SudesiTechnology because their products ECHO the exact same values of quality, indigenous design and engineering AND reliability. But of course, they were easily pushed away from the market by cheap Chinese goods and it is time to bring them back, rather WIN them back.

How do I know all this? Well, I have been operating as a content creator in the Technology Media space since 2012, a time when the smartphone market was in early stages in India compared to now. I have used almost all the brands that have come and gone and I can say, with confidence, that of all the Indian brands I had used, Smartron is the best when it comes to quality and reliability. For me, this is MOST important and I'm sure it's the same for you.

Recently, I got in touch with the Founder and Chairman of Smartron India, Mr. Mahesh Lingareddy on Twitter and he promised to revive the Smartron T-Phone and the T-Book if there is "popular demand", "an uprising" and a "willingness to pay 10% above" cheap Chinese brands.

Above all, he said "Let's do it.. I like to see 10,000 people singing up asking for tphone and tbook.. we will do it .it's for people"

So, here's my request. Sign this petition and share it all over social media so that we can create momentum that can help kick-start the #SudesiTechnology movement with Smartron as the first Indian brand that will help us change the situation from "nothing to be proud of" to "at least there's one".

If you're on Twitter, do tag Mr. Mahesh Lingareddy (his account) and openly ask for the T-Phone and the T-Book, which, trust me, are easily some of the best Indian products in the technology space.

Sample tweet - "Hi @MaheshLReddy I'd love to see @SmartronIndia bring back the T-Phone and the T-Book! It's time for #SudesiTechnology and I am personally willing to buy and suggest your products!"

P.S The #SudesiTechnology movement is for the people of India. It belongs to every Indian. If you have any doubts, contact me on Twitter at @gadgetbuff_ and please google "Smartron T-Phone" and "T-Book" to know more about the brand and these devices.

Remember, this is only the beginning.
