Excluding Drive-Through Commercial Development in Britannia Beach
This petition made change with 136 supporters!
On April 24, 2017, the SLRD received an application for a zoning and OCP amendment for land located at the entry to Britannia Beach North at Copper Drive and Highway 99, across from the B.C. Mining Museum. The application is for a mixed use development, including 82 residential units, 436 m2 (4,690 sq.ft) of new commercial space, 2605 m2 (28,035 sq.ft.) of existing commercial space, a total of 278 parking spaces, a bus lay-by, preservation of 12 existing “heritage” buildings, flood protection and site landscaping and restoration.
By signing this petition, I am AGAINST the OCP amendment for land located at Britannia Beach North at Copper Drive and HWY 99 to include commercial use for: drive-through restaurants, escort service, adult entertainment, casino or other gambling use.
By signing this petition, I am requesting the SLRD define Commercial land within the Britannia Beach North at Copper Drive at HWY 99 OCP amendment to mean a use that includes but is not limited to retail, restaurant, personal service establishment, neighbourhood pub, office, professional, medical, insurance agency, financial institution, pet shop or pet grooming, travel agency, studio, service station, health enhancement centre and similar uses that serve the needs of the residential community, specifically EXCLUDING drive-through restaurants, escort service, adult entertainment, casino or other gambling use
As a resident of Britannia Beach, I would like to ensure commercial space is defined and limited above to maintain the heritage of Britannia Beach and the community values.
