Gordon Moffatt started this petition to Slough Borough Council and

Langley Memorial Park / Ground was bought by public subscription circa 1920 after World War 1 by the people of Langley. The land has been used as a park and as a public amenity ever since. Slough Borough Council / Unitary Authority act as ‘trustees’ and have a duty to protect the property which still belongs to everyone. As such, they are merely custodians who should act to protect the parkland in the public interest. However, Slough Borough Council have recently taken it upon themselves to destroy the trees, bushes and shrubs forming the existing park boundary, to extend and create a dual carriageway on the adjacent road, B470. Slough Borough Council have apparently used the Covid crisis and lockdown to achieve minimal public exposure of their plans, whilst embarking on an exceptionally limited online consultation exercise, clearly designed to avoid any real prospect of public scrutiny & / or opposition to their plans. This petition has been set up and is dedicated to protecting this outrageous attack on publicly owned parkland by those who have clearly acted against the public interest. Please sign this petition if you agree that Slough Borough Council should now stop redevelopment & roadworks immediately, and the parkland be restored to its former state as soon as possible. Thank you.
