The last couple years at school have been anything but precedented. The SLCS staff made the right decisions cancelling exams for these affected school years with the lack of preparation that students were provide with for testing. While this year started with a lot of hope, things aren't looking too good right now. Cases are through the roof- worse than they have ever been and not getting any better. Students are being quarantined and missing weeks of school left and right. Missing out of this time in school will cause a great setback- students are missing out on weeks of review and important student to teacher quality learning time in school. Without the proper preparation required to take a test on content taught over a whole semester, grades are bound to take a hit. The SLCS education board has made the decision (without consulting or polling any students for their input) that we will continue with exams this year- based only on the reasoning that no school has cancelled exams yet. But what sort of reasoning is that? Someone has to make the move first! So if you are for fairness in the testing of students and/or are a student and worried for exams this year, sign and share this petition.
