We strongly believe in the rights of students to be able to go to the toilet in lesson time. Not going to the toilet when you need to can have a big impact on health and wellbeing. You don’t have to have continence problems or special needs to have an accident in class….not being allowed to use the toilets during lessons can cause humiliation for any pupil. Wetting your pants in class can be perceived as a major disaster. Hanging on can have a serious effect on the health of your bladder, an overstretched bladder increases the risks of leaks and infections and in some cases cause kidney and heart problems later on in life. Especially at an all girls school, the need to use the lavatory is vital to prevent embarrassing situations in the class room and worries about TSS (toxic shock syndrome) can be awkward to explain to a teacher especially male. We agree with the fact that people abuse the rights but when you need it, you need it and should not to be forced to wait. We are simply asking for the right to use the toilet, our human right.
