Skidmore Student Signatures for COVID-19 Protocol Admin Letter
We, the students of Skidmore College, demand that the Skidmore administration prioritize the health and physical wellbeing of the student body in the midst of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Although 98% of Skidmore’s on-campus community is vaccinated, being vaccinated and/or boosted is not a guarantee of preventing the spread of COVID-19.
Skidmore’s decision to ease indoor-masking after March 7th, 2022 and make PCR testing optional after March 24th, 2022 was irresponsible and dangerous for the health of the community, especially for immunocompromised students.
Despite rising COVID rates amongst the study body, Skidmore continued to host large-scale events, such as Big Show, without requiring students to get tested.
We are extremely disappointed in the way President Conner and the Skidmore administration has handled COVID outbreaks on campus this semester. We demand that Skidmore make PCR testing MANDATORY and located in a more accessible location for the fall semester 2022, and provide students in isolation with better food, academic support, and resources.
Skidmore, stop neglecting the health and safety of your students. DO BETTER. WE DEMAND CHANGE AND ACCOUNTABILITY.
