Skate Like A Girl Au is Sunshine Coast skate group for girls of all levels, ages, wheels and abilities. 

We wish to provide a safe space for our girls to come together to form friendships, build community and share/practice and teach a passion we love. We want to bring like minded individuals together, create a community of mindfulness for mental health and awareness for all abilities and walks of life. 

We would love to secure a location for our girls to practice their skills, which includes easy access for wheelchairs and the disabled.

We have located the perfect location which is away from all general public and provides lots of variety and safety for all our girls. However; because it was built specifically for cyclists only, Noosa Council's current 'conditions of use' bans the use of skateboards and scooters.

We have been monitoring the track for some months now and have only ever witnessed a handful of cyclists using the track on the days/times we hope allocate to our skating sessions.

We would like to submit to the Noosa Council a request for exemption for Skate Like A Girl Au to use the track either on a weekly or fortnightly basis for a 2 hour period in the morning from 9.30am - 11.30am on Fridays. We are willing to provide signage that warns all other users notifying them of a skate session in progress and for our girls to give way to any cyclists using the track if possible.

We have the support of the Sunshine Coast Cycling Club and just need for the Noosa Council to hear our plea and recognise the benefits of our meet ups and consider allowing a permit for us to use this space that simply isn't being utilised otherwise at the requested times.

There is no group like ours on the Sunshine Coast and a safe space will benefit all the members tremendously.

We feel the benefits much out way the risk and feel the risk of any harm can be eliminated with the correct signage and precaution.
