Phil Thornton started this petition to MP for Holborn and St Pancras and Shadow Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union (Sir Keir Starmer)

I am deeply concerned that Britain may leave the EU on March 29 2019 with either a bad deal or no deal at all.

The government's negotiations have proved to be ineffective and shambolic. They have created a weakened and divided country which will only diminish further unless the brakes are put on this spectacular act of self harm.

Here is a reminder of some important facts about people’s views on Brexit both in Camden and beyond:

• Your own Labour-run Local Authority - Camden Council - has overwhelmingly  passed a motion calling for an unequivocal 'People's Vote'.

• Recent surveys show that 86% of Labour Party members would support a 'Final Say' on Brexit.

• In your own constituency more than 75% of those who voted in the 2016 referendum chose to remain in the E.U.

I appeal to you as MP for Holborn and St Pancras and as Shadow Brexit Secretary to ensure a prosperous future path for your constituents and the people of the UK by taking the following steps:

1. Table or support an amendment to the Withdrawal Agreement Bill asking for a 'People's Vote' with an option to remain in the EU on the ticket.

2. Call on the Labour Party to adopt as policy a motion to support the revoking or extension of Article 50 by the UK with the agreement of the other 27 member states

3. Accept that the vast majority of Labour party members, Camden councillors, voters in Holborn & St Pancras and people of the UK would prefer to remain inside the EU rather than be bullied into a detrimental deal on Brexit which is why there is huge support for a 'People's Vote'.
