Hong Rui Toh started this petition to Singapore Police Force and

Hip hop artiste Cardi B is slated to perform at the Singapore F1 2019 on 21 September, 2019.

Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam in a statement on 8 March said that "the general approach the Government takes with a music event involves questioning if what the band represented or did would be offensive in Singapore." Furthermore, in talking about the approach that the Singapore government takes on the arts and music scene, Shanmugam said, "Is it going to be offensive? Is what they are going to do offensive in Singapore? Is it going to be contrary to our rules, laws? Is it going to be against public security, public order?"

In short, music, and art in general should take a positive impact on society, rather than carry with it any form of negativity that threatens the social fabric.

Cardi B's lyrical contents include not only issues of promiscuity and violence, but is also often laden with expletives. Some snippets of her lyrical contents include:

"Yo I want you to smack this n---- like if you was his father
I'm a violate him
That's what I want you to do" (Got Me F----ed Up; encouraging violence against others)

"Yo, some people know me as a stripper h--
But stripper h--s get the money and blow digits though
A lot of b----es talkin' down on me like I'm a joke
Talk shit, I'll f--- your man, send him back hella broke" (Stripper H--; encouraging girls to be promiscuous)

In 2018, more than 87,000 people turned up to catch the F1 races in Singapore. With such a large number of people potentially being influenced by music such as Cardi B's, the outcome may be devastating to the morals of Singapore society.

I appeal to the Singapore authorities to re-look into allowing acts such as Cardi B into our country, which seek to go against the moral, upright society that we are building and striving towards.
