On 25 Sep 2019, District Judge Jasvender Kaur rejected the prosecution's call for a custodial sentence for Terence Siow Kai Yuan over a molestation case. The judge repeatedly stated his offences as "minor intrusions" several times and  noted that the probation report had found Siow suitable for probation as his academic results show he has the "potential to excel in life".

Stating that : "Looking at the nature of intrusion, I would say it is minor”, Siow, 23, was given 21 months of supervised probation after pleading guilty to one charge of outraging the modesty of a 28-year-old woman.

Siow has admitted that he has committed similar offences since 2016.

Despite all these evidence, the judge think that a probation is sufficient because of his academic achievement.

What are we telling our future generation? Why did our kids have Moral Education since Primary school if all that matters is academic results. Is our public transport safe for our daughters or even sons?

District Judge Jasvender Kaur, are you putting other women’s modesty at risk simply because this man has excel in his studies? Is this what you want your children to learn: just study hard and all mistakes can be atoned.
