Renu is a social enterprise that advocates the reduction of lifestyle fabric wastes by upcycling high-end fabric scraps into uniquely handmade office accessories.

Who would have thought?! The fashion industry is the second most polluting industry in the world, next to big oil!

With clothing being more affordable and accessible, a culture of disposable fashion has formed. This desire for buying new clothes has made a horrific impact on Singapore's current landfill epidemic. In Singapore, we have generated150,800 tonnes of textile and leather waste in 2017. But of this amount, only 9,600 tonnes were recycled, which brings Singapore’s recycling rate in this category to just 6 percent.

On average, the Salvation Army receives about 10 tonnes of donated items per day, about 60 percent of which is clothing. The amount can go up to about 30 tonnes a day during peak periods like the month leading up to Christmas. And the burgeoning mounds of clothes taken in by the charity highlights a larger problem - the sheer amount of cast-off clothing generated by Singaporeans.

By Signing this petition I pledge to:

Discard my clothes responsibly.

Purchase clothes only when I have to.
