Call for the government to be proactive against covid-19
Why this petition matters

The government needs to address covid-19 immediately and put preventative measures in place. We need to be proactive not reactive when its too little too late.
Allowing flights in from highly affected areas is careless and negligent.
The following needs to be addressed immediately:
All flights from high risk areas should be cancelled.
EVERYBODY travelling from affected areas should be quarantined for 14 days minimum and not told to carry on as normal and go back to work or school unless they have symptoms. It can take 2 weeks or more for symptoms to show.
The people of Ireland should be told the counties affected not just east west etc.
The people of Ireland should be told how many tests are being carried out. There are reports that people are complaining of symptoms and being refused tests. Transparency is needed.
All mass gatherings should be cancelled to prevent further spread.
Workers should receive illness benefit from first day of coronavirus isolation.
Hand sanitiser and face masks should be provided for the elderly or immunocompromised and prices should be capped on these items.
Companies should be held accountable if they are allowing employees to return to work after travelling to an affected area without a 14 day isolation period.
Schools need to be closed immediately.
People with symptoms are being refused tests because they have not travelled to an infected area or knowingly been in contact with someone who has. Community transmission will not be found if its not tested. More tests need to be carried out.
