I have a daughter who is 4 years old that attends angus Morrison elementary school, she is diagnosed with autism and intellectual disability she is non-verbal and also a flight risk. I recently purchased her a an assistive device called AngelSense, it tracks her gps coordinates and alerts me if she is to leave the boundries of her school. It also has a listen in feature that can be shut off during school hours to avoid breaching privacy but her school and the school board will not allow her to wear her assistive device even with the listen in feature being shut off. This device gives me comfort knowing I can see where she is at all times and locate her if she is to wander from school or go missing. It is an amazing device and should be welcomed by all schools for children with special needs like my daughter. This device could literally be what saves her life in case of emergency. Thank you to everyone who takes the time to read this and signs my petition to help make these devices welcome in school for those with special needs!
