Jesse Cox started this petition to Senators and Representatives of US Congress (Share with yours)

I made this petition to ensure medical access to all US citizens. Overpriced prescriptions affect various communities in the US, including children, the elderly, and low-income families.

Access to affordable healthcare is an issue touching many in the United States. Medications run around 10 Euros in Europe, but CEOs brag, on live TV in America, about being able to raise prices without consequence.

There are consequences: Medicine is both critical, and cutting-edge. While lawmakers do nothing, people are dying due to lack of access. Quality insulin, the kind most type-I diabetics (they were born with it) need for survival, runs around $400/mo.

As a nation, we cannot afford lengthy patents which limit research and prevent competitive pricing. While some governors have attempted to regulate prices through legal means, this attempt merely leaves patients at the mercy of an already flawed system.

We the people petition the Congress of the United States to shorten the length of medical patents in the United States. India has already had great success in doing this. Opening medicine up to more parties allows increased research and more competition, which will drive prices down.
