The 5 cent fee on plastic bags will help the fight against plastics polluting our waterways, sidewalks, and streets. A percentage of the fee will go back to the local municipality to fund other strategies and outreach programs for the issue at hand. The Virginia Beach City Council will be taking on this issue in May as many other localities in Virginia have already implemented the 5 cent fee on plastic bags. This petition is an act of advocacy to show support on the fee and will be relayed to our City Council members.
