Mike Regan started this petition to Sierra Madre City Council and

Sierra Madre is faced with consistent outages with our current and most popular internet service provider, Spectrum.  While it's been brought to their attention by many of us as customers, the problems persist, with hours of downtime during peak hours for school, work from home and small business operation.  With so many of us working and schooling from home, we need a modern ISP infrastructure. Our alternative DSL option with Frontier is not nearly fast enough for modern internet data transmission.

Fiber Optic internet is the future and although it likely requires an infrastructure update, it will give us internet at the speed of light for years to come.  As a community, our schools will be better equipped to educate without disruption and our business and work from home situations will be more competitive because of this infrastructure. This explanation of Fiber Optic Internet requirements is a helpful guide for what would need to be done.

Fiber internet plans for communities like Monrovia and Arcadia next door from AT&T offer exponentially faster speeds for both downloads and uploads.

By signing this petition, we as a community ask that Mayor Capoccia and the city council add this to the agenda for their next meeting and bring AT&T and Giggle Fiber to the table so that we can be presented with a plan to bring this essential service to our community.

Thank you for your consideration and for any comments and insights that you might have.

New resident as of 2020 and small business owner

*I also want to make sure everyone knows that although change.org attempts to ask people to “chip in” to promote our petition, that is NOT necessary and you do not at all need to pay to sign this. Had I known change.org was a for profit corporation attempting to cash in on grass roots organizing I would have found another route. Either way, thank you for signing and taking the time to chime in.
