Keep the murals at our school.

Edited: I am in the process of formally proposing a restoration/replacement of the cafeteria mural. If the project is approved by the Lanier principal, I will need as much help as I can get from student volunteer artists and volunteer adult supervisors whether it be parents and/or staff. Thank you very much for your support.
Lanier Middle School was established in 1926, and has since then gained many important pieces of artwork, including "The Pipe of Peace" (a mural depicting natives and their way of life) by Grace Spaulding John in its foyer, a large mural in the cafeteria depicting the front view the of school contrasting how it looked in 1926 and in the present (shown in the picture), and a mural on the third floor telling the story of King Arthur. Recently, the cafeteria mural was painted over with plain white and thus utterly destroying almost 100 years of Lanier's history without consultation of any of the student body, parents, or alumni. There has since been word that the 3rd floor mural would suffer the same fate. Please sign this petition to prevent the loss of not only Lanier's history, but of the city of Houston's too!! Thank you very much for joining in our cause.
