Traffic Solutions for Elkins High School
Why this petition matters
Currently, the Knights Court road all along from the intersection of Thompson ferry to Elkins High school is very busy during the morning school time and endangers student walkers and bikers.
Knight Court has two white stripes indicating walkways are supposed to be kept open for walkers and bikers. However, it remains generally crowded, especially in the mornings, by cars which are forced to take over the lines due to limited space. This puts students in danger while walking or crossing during rush hours. It also poses a driving hazard for many student drivers/adults as sometimes students are crossing the road in a rush. The newly-built elementary school poses a further obstacle by introducing more traffic.
What I propose is an extension to the width of Knights Court (expansion of a road) or construction of external sidewalks alongside the roads to make it safe for the students and drivers.
We appreciate your support in signing this petition so that we can take the request to government authorities and help make it safer for the Elkins High School students.
