On July 11, 2022 Cardell Crawford was killed due to the negligence of the Westport Ale House in Kansas City, Missouri. A fight that broke out in the establishment led to a mass shooting where my brother was killed and 4 others were wounded.

Westport Ale House failed to take the appropriate precautions to avoid the escalation of violence. First, they allowed two men that were banned from the Westport to enter the Ale House without identification. An employee of the Ale House stated, « We do not check IDs on Sundays because we are slow. »  Secondly, the security failed to de-escalate the physical altercation. Instead, the staff participated in the fight. Last, there are multiple witnesses who have confirmed that there was a male inside of the establishment with a gun. 

Westport Ale House played a critical role in the death of Cardell Crawford, because they failed to provide safety to all of their customers that night. This is one of many incidents that this establishment has been involved in. Therefore, Westport Ale House should be shut down to prevent further violence.
