The magic of a broadway show is something special.  Picture it now, everyone sitting in silence in a huge room as they are transformed to another world, escaping the troubles of reality feeling the passion of performers radiate like sunshine over the house.  It’s a special expierence like no other for performers and audiences that is needed.

With Broadway being shut down until further notice, so many actors, technicians, managers, and house staff are out of work. Without the ticket sales from performances, everyone involved in a show are struggling to make ends meet and theaters are starting to feel the financial burden of the pandemic.  Not only are the cast and crew feeling this weight, but audience members are destroyed at the loss of live theater - a form of happiness and an escape we all need at this time.

This is why I propose that various theaters release their available pro-shots on an online pay-per-view system while the pandemic is keeping theaters closed.  While these could mainly be shows still open on Broadway, it could also be closed shows from the past.  Patrons can pay the ticket price for a show for an online stream or time-sensitive link. The patron can view the show via a link for a short time (24 hours or less), and then it’ll disappear so people will stay want to pay to see the show live in the future.

This money would go towards paying everyone who is out of their jobs, such as the performers and technicians, but also serve to cover the monetary amounts it takes to keep a theater running.  I believe that enough people would be wanting to view their favorite shows online that this could help a lot of shows stay open for when the pandemic finally disappears.
