SLOW DOWN

    Sierra High School has been at 2250 Jet Wing Drive since 1984 and still does not have a School Zone in place. 

       Most cars have been going at speeds too fast and dangerous for a school zone. Our goal is to reduce how fast these cars are really going. We want to make school grounds safer and try to reduce as much oncoming traffic going above the speed limit. “ School Zone Flashers promote a safe environment that encourages students to walk and bike to School. When School Zone Flashers are engaged, they help aware drivers to slow down in Speed Zones.” 

 Facts about Sierra:

Sierra High School is a Title I school, meaning that the poverty level is over 75%. 
Sierra serves over 800 students
Sierra High School is ranked 227th within Colorado. Students have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement® coursework and exams.

 Facts about School Zone Flashers:

Flashers are higher in chances of having a driver slow down in school zone
Another study found that 82% of drivers correctly identified a school zone sign when it had beacons that were flashing, compared to just 52% when no beacons were present.
