Nick Paterson started this petition to Shropshire Council

The proposed road will be c 4 miles long so costing £21.75million per mileHow is this affordable?

What about the state of Shropshire's roads now - potholes ad infinitum and many remain unrepaired for over a year!   Not to mention the deteriorating state of the road surfaces.

And, what about the lack of safe (surface and traffic) cycle routes - if there's money available then improving the existing routes and adding new ones is by far more environmentally friendly, not to mention the health benefits.

Current objections focus on the environmental impact of building the road, with most respondents saying it is incompatible with the climate emergency that Shropshire Council declared in May 2019. Objectors also highlight the devastation that the road will cause to Shrewsbury’s Green Wedge and natural habitats such as the ancient oak trees. Others raise questions over the validity of the business case - which was written before the pandemic, discrepancies in the traffic models used and the lack of consideration of alternative methods for solving Shrewsbury’s transport issues.

Invest in improving what we have which will be of benefit county-wide not just one miniscule part of the country.
