Wholly opposed to your ‘spur of the current fashion’ ill considered petition.
Jesus said ‘let him that is without sin cast the first stone’.
Shakespeare ‘ the evil that men do lives after them, the good is oft interred with their bones.’’
Focus on current slavery and do some good.

To see if I can sign this petition despite me having no interest at all. I bet half the people who have signed this petition could not point to Shrewsbury on a map.

No one would be happy with a statue of Hitler in Shrewsbury. So why is it ok to have a statue of someone responsible for invasion and brutality in multiple countries?

Clive of India statue must go. We should not be proud of racist robber barons!

Spending to gain reputation from any means is not a trait admired by the Country, in fact today it would be illegal. Time moves on, put Clive of India’s statue in a museum, provide a factual educational resume of his life, how he gained his wealth and how he spent it. Today we do not hold his actions with high regard. Move him asap

Accepting our past is important, but glorifying our atrocities isn’t.

Removal is to respect of our history. Let's replace with a statue that will commorate the atrocities carried out in India in the name of Britannia.
