Ban Firecrackers

Diwali is a festival of lights , representing prosperity and happiness ; but I and many people like me , ranging from infants to adults to old people cannot experience the true joy of Diwali because of the toxic air that accompanies the festival. I have to hide in a corner in my room because the air outside will make me gasp and suffocate . The air pollution that comes with Diwali is known to all. Fireworks cause extensive air pollution in a short amount of time, leaving metal particles, dangerous toxins, harmful chemicals and smoke in the air for hours and days. Some of the toxins never fully decompose or disintegrate, but rather hang around in the environment, poisoning all they come into contact with. Your one decision to allow sale and use of firecrackers in current times, while half of our country turns into a gas chamber, will kill toddlers, children and elderly.

Its not just about the environment , but also about human rights . Most of the fireworks industry workforce comprise of children and adolescents , working under serious health hazards .

Talking of the Hindu religious practices , Shri Ram wouldn't be very fond of us if we welcome him elegantly on the cost of thousands of lives and Mother Earth. If a particular religious practice is threatening the health and lives of people, such practice is not entitled to protection

I insist that fireworks must be completely banned in India.
