Duayen Foundation urge government of India to look into the matter of increasing numbers of child beggars, as well as women beggars with children, needs to be investigate intensively, where we don’t know whether these kids are their own or not. If these children along with wandering women might be begging at the behest of some mafia, they should be freed from their captivity.
No restriction & regulation over child beggars making NGOs job harder or almost ruining the efforts of those working in this area. We want strict but humanitarian outlook of the administration towards child related issues, so that in the absence of begging as a profession they can think about the long term benefit of getting education, or can explore various government and non-government welfare programs and schemes. In the absence of this menace source of income, they will actually consider the NGOs as their helping partner and this will also increase the NGOs accountability.
There are over 400,000 child beggars in India, the story doesn’t end here between Jan 2017 to July 2017, and about 3,500 children reported missing in Capital. According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) About 900 girls and 500 boys gone untraced. 2,179 girls and 1,265 boys went missing, about 10 a day, only but 1,291 girls and 881 boys were found. Last year, the Capital topped the inglorious list at 7,665 "untraced" children with MP standing second at 7,140 and Maharashtra third at 5,189. In 2015 again Delhi registered the highest number of such children at 6,756 while MP ranked second at 6,675 and West Bengal third at 4,588.
It is simple. Girls are either forced into prostitution or unequal marriages in areas with skewed sex ratio like Punjab and Haryana. Most girls supplies to the red-light areas of Rajasthan or Uttar Pradesh's flesh trade 'hot-spots'- Agra, Meerut, Allahabad, Kanpur and Lucknow.” And of course little boys and girls too go into the begging zone.
Seeing the severity as well as the necessity of the matter, we request you to kindly adopt zero tolerance towards child begging throughout the nation.
The administration has to assure that there is no kid begging on the street or near temples; make the traffic police accountable to not to allow a single child beggar at the traffic signal.
Duayen Foundation is extensively engaged in the awareness campaigning, to make public aware about child related issues such as child labor, child begging, child trafficking, child abuse & exploitation, Drug addiction, and so forth.
We request you to support us in stopping this vicious cycle of begging, poverty, and illiteracy to assure a better future for our children which will contribute in growing as a strong nation.
