The issue that many students are dealing with at the highschool is heavy traffic while arriving at school. The large amount of cars entering and exiting the two entrances to the parking lots leads to a lot of congestion and confusion among drivers. The lack of efficiency of our current traffic situation leads to a large number of students being late to their classes, and because of this, they gain tardies. The tardies eventually add up and lead to detentions for these students, even though there is little the students can do to get around the heavy traffic. My partner and I conducted a student survey on their experiences with the traffic during their time at SHS. The survey gave us a large insight into the amount of students who are affected by the traffic at the highschool. 69.8% of students stated that they have been tardy to a class solely because of the traffic at the school. This number is extremely large and shows that the majority of the student body is heavily affected by the traffic. This is why we need change!
