The impact of COVID-19 has left many crippled financially, individuals as well as businesses. Shortwood Teachers' College has decided to offset its losses on the students by increasing boarding and other miscellaneous fees, and refusing to lower the cost of tuition. Additionally, the great majority of classes are to be held online, and students are being asked to "be understanding".

Their alternative is for persons without internet to go access Wi-Fi at a church or some neighbors place, and that is offensive considering that persons would be paying close to half a million dollars. Reduced tuition costs could help students to acquire the necessary tools for distance learning such as data and Wi-Fi at home.

Shortwood has not refunded the pro-rated boarding discount which was to be applied as a result of COVID-19, and they are requesting that all the boarding be paid upfront for those students staying in campus. There are a variety of ways in which the situation can be reconsidered but this just shows that Shortwood doesn't care about its students, and we effectively need to take a stand for our own education.
