If you are registered for Virtual Academy OR if schools close and all students become remote, this affects you.

Please sign the petition requesting that virtual schooling have a set, realistic, healthy schedule for all children.

We are requesting that the Virtual Academy schedule for the 2021-2022 school year be no longer than 9am-1pm of instruction, with ample time for lunch and breaks in between classes (3 hours of live instruction max).

As we all know, VA is difficult for children, and trying to have it mirror an in-person school day is not conducive to children's mental or physical well-being.

We've seen similar models as the one we are proposing (from other local Wake county public schools, as well as across the country) and the children have fared much better than the children who have had longer VA days.

Teachers could still be made available until 3:45 so that families who need/want additional support can access it.

We urge you to consider an abridged schedule so that all children have a better chance to succeed.

Thank you!

Proposed mock schedule (live instruction 3 hours max):

9:00-10:00 Literacy
10:05-11:05 Math
11:10-11:55 Lunch
12:00-1:00 SS/Science
1:00-2:00 Specials/Independent Work
2:00-3:45 Flex Time
