Scotland deserves help with this unrecognised issues as does the rest of the United Kingdom, Europe and the USA. Please ensure that the people of Scotland are supported and provided with appropriate resources and care....and please educate the medical profession!

The medical profession close ranks and deny the trauma patients suffer during withdrawal, causing even more pain and suffering.

I have had a horrific 10 years on 15 psychiatric drugs. I am still on the antidepressants mirtazapine and venlafaxine and I don't know if I will EVER be able to get off them as the withdrawal effects are so horrendous.

I was prescribed antidepressants at age 15, and after trying them all, ended up on 300 mg of Effexor, which was still not effective. Going off has been brutal, even slowly over 8 months and with naturopathic support. These drugs should never ever ever be prescribed and the pharmaceuticals should pay out the nose for our addiction recovery and the lost wages, lost days, lost years, that we've been dizzy, nauseous, shaking, crying, etc.

I'm signing because I have been prescribed benzodiazapams in the past for anxiety and sleep issues. My withdrawal was awful and I would like to see proper rehabilitation for people who have been prescribed these drugs as well as SSRI's and painkillers. Rehabilitation should include both inpatient and outpatient treatment, including outreach services and a national helpline. Also, further research is needed to see the impact of these drugs on brain function. It is a tragedy that if I was an illicit drug user I would have more support. All I have done is taken drugs as prescribed by my doctor because adequate psychiatric facilities were not available. When the drugs created problems no support was there. This needs to stop.

I am an antidepressant survivor, the current system of admonishment by the medical establishment of any responsibility for patients welfare in regards to these drugs is inhumane.
