When you live outside lerwick you become a lower standard of citizen for Shetland Islands or should I say just Shetland.

The SIC is a disgrace to the people of Shetland, doing nothing to the satisfaction of the majority of our population, both urban and rural.

Closing schools, destroying communities, wasting money, allowing those that owe large sums to not pay it back while demonising those that owe a small amount. Sort it out or sod off!

I'm deeply saddened by what is happening in Shetland. It's heartbreaking what had been done to the small rural communities.

SIC are ignoring the majority of the islanders, and all in the name of greed from the subsidies linked to wind turbines. If this goes ahead, the islands will truly regret it.

Having read the petition, it sounds as if the people are being poorly served. House cleaning may well be in order. Any member who is truly worth his salt may be re-elected. Apart from that, I obviously have "no dog in this fight" and I suppose I should keep my nose out of it.

I lived in Shetland for 5 years and used to work in the Anderson High School. It saddens me to hear that the S.I.C. wants to close more valuable schools and leave school staff uncertain of their jobs that they love. I urge the Shetland Islands Council to stop closing the Junior High Schools and start thinking about viable long term solutions for the Shetland communities.

The whole operation is a shambles, and there's nobody appearing to be trying to pull it up with its boot straps.

I was proud to be part of building a superb educational system at Sandwick and the other Junior Highs.

What is very noticeable is the lack of trust in schools for many of the layers of bureaucracy. Many officials were on watch while spending was blindly increased – many of them now advise councillors on how to destroy education. Would you take lessons in navigation from the captain of the Costa Concordia?
