Due to the vast and continuing spread of the COVID-19 virus and within Canada, currently having 103 confirmed cases, which is bound to increase, we the students in high school in Sherwood Park believe that it is of importance for us all to take drastic measures. Ontario has set the example by announcing today that they will be closing public schools. We believe we should follow Ontario and close schools to prevent the spread. Within the schools their is fear the virus could spread quickly. Our health is our priority. At this time, we are anxious and fearful about what is happening around the world, and especially since it is spreading nearby. With spring break just a few weeks away, we are aware that many students will be traveling by plane and may be in a position to be exposed and have a high risk of getting infected. We, as a community, want to take the right precautions and avoid the risk. We kindly propose making all our courses online to feel secure in the safety of our homes. All around the world many schools and universities have announced that classes will be put off until further notice or changed to teaching courses online. We would appreciate this request to be taken into consideration. We do not want our lives to be put at risk because of the fast spread of the virus and how it is becoming more severe over time and may turn into a global epidemic
