Get Public Schools in Ohio to Have a Later Start Time!
It was only a few days ago, that I saw a thirteen-year-old boy get pushed out of his own desk (by a teacher) for having the incapability of simply opening his eyes. Keeping his head from drooping seemed like the hardest task I had watched someone attempt. This is just one of the many intense occasions the minors of early school times have to face. What do you think the main goal of an educational system is? To teach, to learn, to make friends, and to socialize. It seems like an uncomplicated objective to achieve, however, the expected waking time of these middle and high schoolers is slowing this intention down exponentially.
Long-established school schedules don’t consider the typical sleep cycle of children and teens, at least 60 percent of children complain of being tired during the school day. In the place where we are expected to learn, more than one-quarter of students are sleeping. Sleep deprivation can lead to many serious complications, including anxiety and other major mental health issues. These psychological drawbacks pave the starting path to severe drugs, nicotine, and alternative harmful substances. Getting more sleep can increase happiness, productivity, and improve general academic performance.
Although, the more sleep you get, the less time you'll have before school. Running late in the morning because you have to catch the bus at 6 AM, and the thing you're least worried about is contributing your time to a well-balanced breakfast. Even though it's considered the most important meal! Skipping it causes problems with focusing, and worsened eating habits. The last thing your teacher wants to hear is you opening a bag of chips or PopTarts at the back of the classroom, distracting your peers because they can't concentrate on anything other than you're unnecessarily loud chomping.
