Fight Childhood Cancer and Support the RACE for Children Act

We want to express my support for the Race for Children Act (S. 456, H.R. 1231)
Childhood cancer is the leading cause of death from disease among children in the United States. Today, one in five kids diagnosed with cancer will not survive. Currently, the National Cancer Institute designates around 4% of its research budget to all forms of childhood cancer. For many pediatric cancers, there has been little to no advancements for treatment since the 1970’s.
Now, there is a lack of funding for research, a lack of research, and a lack of profitability for pharmaceutical companies regarding childhood cancer awareness and treatment.
As a student, I want my fellow peers to be able to get the treatment they deserve and the resources to help fight their individual battles. We would really appreciate your response and call to action regarding this piece of legislation.
We would like you to see that the RACE for Children Act continues to make progress through the legislative process. In 2018, we would like to see more attention and an expansion on this Act to ensure that children can effectively fight cancer. Additionally, we would like to see you become a cosponsor on this Act that we find critical in helping to fight childhood cancer once and for all.
