Sheron Fruehauf started this petition to Sheron Fruehauf

Heiner and Sheron Fruehauf have created a plan to renovate the burned out View Point Inn, a well-known historical landmark in the Columbia River Gorge. Besides removing an eyesore in the community and offering traditional inn services, the plan includes the creation of a retreat center with a focus on health, wellness and the appreciation of nature. In addition to week-long retreat programs for overnight guests, the Inn plans to offer day visit options for local residents. The Multnomah County Land Use Planning Office presently intends to recommend a denial of the project at the upcoming December 14 public hearing, based on a conservative interpretation of the existing code that regulates requested modifications to the existing building footprint. Convincing the presiding hearing judge and other regulating agencies of the crucial importance to preserve this historic Gorge icon requires sustained input from the community. If project plans are denied, the National Historic Registry will lose one of their most important landmarks in the Pacific Northwest, and the local community will miss the opportunity to house an internationally renowned retreat center promoting time-honored Oregonian values such as wellness, naturalness and community oriented business practices.
