Why this petition matters
The current system for organizing and marketing the parades of our twin cities is unimaginative, uninspiring, impractical, and non-lucrative. This being by far the most economically, spiritually, and community involved time of the year, we believe that this must be better managed. Please help us to promote a more uniform and structurally entertaining venue that will promote our communal values as well as allow a platform of business promotion. THERE MUST BE REAL FLOATS! If we can build, store, and maintain traditional floats, to be re-used year after year with an option to bid upon the use of each float, the parade will pay for itself. Together we can help raise money for our two communities and improve the parade attendance and our Christmas spirit.
First: We must create a special volunteer committee to develop the exact identity and quantity of the floats.
Second: We must organize a group of volunteer sales representatives to engage with local businesses around Texoma as initial sponsors. These sponsors would have their business advertised notably every year on the float they helped build. This should encourage several businesses to come on board on the initial cost.
Third: We must solicit funds and labor from local residents to help build these floats. With a community full of valued building and electrical skills, these floats could be made to fit a standard trailer size and be established safe for carolers, both young and old. Building and Trades projects for our high school students. Horse training for our Rodeo Club students.Electrical Engineering projects for the college students. These things can be organized with very little cost to the cities themselves.
Lastly: These floats must gain a reputation for annual expectation. Once popular, the bids for them will increase and so will the money and attendance. Our goal is to have people from Mckinney, Durant, Gainsville, and other surrounding communities come to spend their time and money at our venue.
