Do you want to Spread Kindness Build Community?

Dear Cameron Station Neighbor:
Over the last several months, you may have seen the consensus-building signs around Alexandria that read: Spread Kindness Build Community.
These signs were originally created by Jen Walker, a Real Estate Agent who lives in Alexandria. Several of us in Cameron Station thought it would be a good idea to "spread" the word to the West End. Certainly, we should all be kind to one another. These signs are NOT political, not offensive, and only ask that we treat one another with kindness.
According to the Cameron Station Community Association (CSCA) Covenants Article VII, Section 7.17, "owners may not erect or maintain on any portion of the property any signs except for those required by law (e.g. building permits), appropriate For Sale signs, or security or political signs in accordance with Community guidelines." A few of us in the neighborhood have received First Notice Violation Letters from the CSCA because we posted these signs on our individual properties.
Mindy Lyle and I stated our case to the CSCA Architecture Review Board this month, and they denied the request because this type of sign is not covered under CSCA Covenants.
If you agree that the "Spread Kindness Build Community" sign should be allowed on CS properties, please sign this petition.
