Michael Hodkinson started this petition to Shell Oil

Several hundred oil drilling platforms in the North Sea are due to be decommissioned over the next three decades as they approach the end of their operational lifetime.

Shell Oil plans to leave behind one steel jacket and the concrete bases beneath three of the platforms of its Brent oilfield installation. This means that an estimated 11,000 tonnes of raw oil and toxins are to remain in the base of the three Brent installations, Bravo, Charlie and Delta.

The UK Government is intending to endorse these plans. Disassembling the rigs is the norm but as it's a 'costly undertaking', leaving them to rot is the financially sound option. This is the oil industry, it's extremely lucrative, Shell Oil has an ethical and moral obligation to care for the planet they extract the source of their wealth from.

Sign this petition if you disagree with Shell Oils plans to further pollute our oceans and if you disagree with the UK Governments decision to endorse their plans.
