Chief Robert Shelide has tweeted some overall horrible things regarding the riots. He has critiqued the officers around the nation trying to keep the protests civil and peaceful and hinted at abuse of his power as not only an officer, but the chief of officers in our region. Shelide also went as far to call protestors “barbarians”. These comments should never ever be acceptable, let alone for someone in his position. He has been placed on paid leave, which is an injustice within itself. We as a society need a change, and we can’t allow officers of the law to get away with things like this. “Watch your words, they become actions; watch your actions, they become habits; watch your habits, they become character; watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.”
