Maleah’s law would hold Mothers (and other guardians) accountable of not protecting their child from an abuser. Any mother (guardian) that knowingly and willingly allow their child to be around a person they know is abusive towards them or other children will and should face prosecution. This would include jail time (fear of jail time might motive a mother to do something), rehabilitation, and extensive parenting classes.
