Najeeb Jung ji, Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor, Government of NCT of Delhi: Fix Responsibility for the Death of Filmmaker Anand Bhaskar Morla

It is ridiculous for then Cheif Minister Sheila Dikshit to have said... “Pray to God Stop Rains." Should the Cheif Minister not Find God Within herself and give us Corruption Free Good Governance? Should the CM not ensure that the National Capital does not come to a standstill just after a few hours of rains, and citizens do not end up loosing their life, like Anand did?

Anand Bhaskar Morla, 33, a filmmaker, lost his life due to electrocution on July 20, 2013 due to sheer callousness of Civic and Safdarjung Hospital authorities. Anand, who lost his father early in his childhood is survived by his maternal Grandmother, Mother, Wife, and a 3 year old son.

A year later, the killer Air Conditioners are back at the same spot on the encroached land. Municipal Corporation of Delhi does not seem to care for Human Life.

Anand’s car was parked in front of A-22 shopping complex in Green Park. He took his maternal Grandmother to the Bank of India while his Wife and Son waited in the car. It was raining heavily, and upon return while Anand was helping his Grandmother get back in to the car, the door of the Car door brushed an iron gate that was in contact with the live wire of the split AC installed on encroached land by Jwell Den Jewelry shop in the complex.

Anand was rushed to Safdarjung Hospital in a Private Ambulance. The Emergency department of the Safdarjung Hospital did not attend to him as he struggled with his life in the ambulance. He was asked to be taken to the Burns department of the Hospital instead. Again at the Burns department he was not attended to, for a long time.

After wasting precious time, Anand was then declared brought dead.

What happened to Anand can happen to any of us. Anand died due to Sheer Callousness of the allegedly Corrupt Civic Authorities and Apathy of the Safdarjung Hospital Authorities.

Letter to
Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor, Government of NCT of Delhi Mr. Najeeb Jung
I was shocked at the statement of Ms. Sheila Dikshit, then Chief Minister of GNCT of Delhi,... “Pray To God Stop Rains." Should she not have found God Within Herself and give us Corruption Free Good Governance?

Should you not ensure that the National Capital does not come to a standstill just after a few hours of rains, and citizens do not end up loosing their life, like Anand did?

None of the 151 CAT ambulances that Government of NCT of Delhi advertises were in sight.

The Indian Express Newspaper reported...

““Mother lights his pyre because there are no men left in family”

ANAND’s mother had retired only on June 30, and was preparing to move in with Anand and her 77-year-old mother in Delhi. The 58-year-old social worker and counsellor with the Andhra Pradesh government’s Health department, had to instead rush to the capital on Saturday evening for her son’s cremation.

Anand’s mother Amareshwari keeps her voice steady, quick to brush away the tears that betray her emotions. “I gave birth to him, I nurtured him for nine months. After my husband’s death, I took up a government job that was given to me on compassionate grounds, to ensure I could fulfill his dreams. Yesterday, with my own hands, I cremated him.”

We cannot get back Anand, but we can at least ensure that such incidents do not happen again.

I, therefore demand:

1. That you personally visit and apologize to the bereaved family.
2. Those guilty are punished without any further delay.
3. Delhi Police registers a case u/s 304 of Indian Penal code, and not u/s 304A of IPC.
4. Hospitals are directed not to waste precious time and attend to patients in case of an emergency.
5. Ensure that all Power Generators, Air Conditioners, Gas Cylinders etc, installed on encroached land, and/or installed dangerously in common areas of the buildings, are removed.
