Remember Allen Ginsberg's 'September on  Jessore Road' (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wls0SqCFP9U The road and the century-old trees alongside have witnessed one of the most dehumanizing exodus during the 1971 War of Independence. Government of Bangladesh has decided to cut more than two thousand trees to make a new highway to replace the 'old road'. We propose that this road along with the trees should be declared as a national heritage site. We hope that the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, who is also the daughter of the founder father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman who led the independence will take immediate action to protect the site and declare it as a national heritage.
