Sheffield Hallam University to advertise the Unipol national code for student accomodation
Why this petition matters
The UNIPOL National code for student accommodation sets out minimum standards for university approved accommodation providers, and a related complaints procedure for resolving any breaches of the code.
Examples of the minimum standards expected of providers who sign up to the code include providing prior written notice of flat and room visits and completing reported repairs within a specific time frame (no later than 28 days).
This petition requests that Sheffield Hallam University and it's Student's Union where applicable: -
1. Prominently display posters and leaflets highlighting the UNIPOL National Code and how to use it to complain about accommodation providers on campus, in the students union building and on the Hallam Accommodation and Students Union websites.
2. Include in any nomination agreements with student accommodation providers a clause which commits the provider to display information about the code and how to complain.
3. Invite representatives from UNIPOL to attend student accommodation fairs to inform students of the code and their rights under it.
