Accessibility is restricted in the public gallery, to 50 able bodied people, which means when there is a large interest in subjects being discussed, some people along with people that are wheelchair users, have to use the overspill room. At present the audio feed into the public gallery does not project the speakers comments clearly enough to be heard properly and the feed into the overspill room is of even poorer quality, sometimes not working at all.
In order to address these issues we would like -
For there to be an upgrade to the current system which would provide a clear audio and video feed into the overspill room.
For one of the cameras to focus on whomever is speaking so that people can identify who is commenting at any given time.
For the feed to be livestreamed on the internet for those who are unable to attend the meetings in person due to other commitments, being housebound or having caring duties, for example.
For this new system to extend to other meetings which are open to the public.
Changes to the current system would enable fuller participation and engagement in the public meetings.
