Get Sheffield City Council to end their contract with Amey PLC

0 have signed. Let’s get to 1,000!

In Sheffield, Amey have a 25 year contract to provide a range of services to maintain our city. Hardly a day goes by without another major problem being reported about Amey. For some reason the Council won't or can't take them on.

Whether it's the controversal tree felling programme, roads needing to be repaired after £2 billion spent on them, roads closed and residents vehicles moved only for no work to take place. Just search the Sheffield Star for new stories every day! The latest story is that Amey laid just half a pavement and local traders are told to do the rest! If you go down just a few streets in most parts of Sheffield you will come across barriers simply left at the side of the road by Amey. A friend in a mobility scooter recently had to go right back down a road to cross to the other side as he couldn't get past a pile of "safety" barriers that had been left in the street after works had been completed.

On my own estate, Amey have taken over six months to replace streetlights that should have been completed within three months. My own road has been left without street lights for two months so far this year. We go days on end without seeing anyone from Amey on the estate. Then a vehicle will turn up, the workers will do a bit of work, have a snooze in the lorry, then head off home.

We (myself and local residents) have complained to our local councillors, our MPs and obviously Amey. We have had the issue reported in The Star. But still nothing happens. Amey don't even acknowledge letters from our MP, Clive Betts. This company seem to act above the law and for some reason Sheffield City Council have not taken the complany on for Breach of Contract.

I don't know what it will take to make the Council listen and act but let's see that our hard earnt Council Tax goes to a company who are actually going to work for the money and do what we, the residents of Sheffield, want to be done
