Adopt a Sheffield People's Budget with No Council Cuts in 2016

This petition had 254 supporters

The Tory government has announced 4 more years of devastating cuts, with a further 30-50% off local government funding.
Sheffield people cannot afford any more cuts in council jobs and services affecting adult social care, children and young people, housing and benefits, public heath, libraries, bins and recycling, leisure facilities, public transport and fire services.

Jeremy Corbyn was elected Labour leader on an anti-austerity manifesto, urging "Labour councils to band together against Tory cuts".

Therefore we call on Sheffield City council to explore all possible use of reserves and borrowing powers to introduce a No Cuts budget for 2016-17. We will build support in local trade unions and communities, and encourage other Labour councils to adopt the same No Cuts strategy, and join a co-ordinated campaign to restore government funding to protect jobs and services in future years.
